NATIONAL YEMEN ADVOCACY DAY

Be the Voice of Yemen

Yemen Advocacy Day empowers Yemeni-Americans to create positive change in Yemen by building bridges with elected officials and fostering dialogue on critical issues shaping U.S. policy towards Yemen.

National Yemen Advocacy Day is a significant annual event that brings together Yemeni-Americans from 20 states to advocate for policies impacting Yemen. Hosted by the Washington Center for Yemeni Studies (WCYS) on Capitol Hill, the event emphasizes the importance of civic engagement and political activism within the Yemeni-American community. Over one hundred delegates convene in Washington, D.C., to engage directly with nearly 100 congressional members, sharing their concerns and priorities. By fostering dialogue and building bridges with elected officials, this event serves as a vital platform for shaping U.S. policy towards Yemen and empowering participants to drive positive change.

Civic Engagement & Advocacy Training Workshop

The Civic Engagement and Advocacy Workshop serves as an impactful training experience for the Yemeni-American community. The workshop is designed to provide participants with essential advocacy skills and foster meaningful dialogue on civic involvement and policy engagement.

The event typically begins with a comprehensive advocacy training session, equipping attendees with practical tools and strategies to effectively advocate for their community’s interests and engage with policymakers. This is followed by an inspiring panel discussion featuring prominent Yemeni-American leaders and public servants who share insights from their experiences and highlight the transformative power of active civic participation.

The workshop often concludes with a town hall discussion that creates an open forum for dialogue with government representatives or policy experts. This segment allows community members to voice their concerns and aspirations, fostering a deeper understanding of how grassroots advocacy can influence policy and contribute to sustainable change. Through these workshops, participants gain valuable knowledge, strengthen their advocacy networks, and play an active role in shaping policies affecting their community.

Be part of the solution, make your voice heard, and empower positive change.
